Event Details

Are you working within a small business or in a rural area and looking to connect with other HR professionals? Do you have challenges with managing conflict, negotiating successfully or influencing with ownership or at the senior leadership table? Join a group of your peers to explore these and other HR complexities facilitated by a coach and conflict expert.

This is a practicing, engaged session with expectations of full participation that will enable participants to share challenges in a confidential and closed group. It will provide an on-going opportunity (3 sessions) to come together with the same individuals (maximum of 8) to continue the discussion and dig deeper into emerging issues for 90 minutes every 2 weeks.

How many times have you been asked to affect change in your team or across the organization when you have had no formal authority or power to make this happen? As a Change Agent, Project Manager, Supervisor, Team Lead, Executive Assistant or Department Manager you may be struggling to motivate others to listen to your thoughts, ideas, and opinions. We can all be in that position of informal leader, without the title or power to make decisions, but still needing to get things done. Influencing can develop meaningful relationships, build trust and allow you to share your expertise to support growth for yourself and your career. Through discussion and role plays learn how to have influence within a workplace, even if you’re not the team lead or the CEO.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

• Recognize the sources of Power and learn strategies to balance Power
• Understand and identify the motivators of others to develop lasting solutions
• Influence successfully in uneven situations
• Work with others to create new options to old problems
• Add tools to your tool kit for to manage the pitfalls of workplace interactions

Effective conflict resolvers are not born – they need training and practice. In this technological age, people often find it difficult to communicate face to face and there exists the very real possibility for miscommunication and conflict. Build your skills as an effective conflict resolver and communicator. Learn to recognize conflict patterns, what triggers and escalates conflict in others, strategies to reduce defensiveness, how to communicate in a direct manner and provide feedback constructively.

These skills will help you work more productively and effectively with clients, colleagues and supervisors. Successful collaboration helps you and the other party find creative solutions that will meet both your needs. See Course Outline.
