Economic downturns often create contentious situations in organizations. Companies are required to hunker down, cut back, and become more efficient, which requires serious and impactful choices. When those decisions apply to the entire organization, it seems fair and equitable as everyone is impacted and all are treated in the same way. But, what happens when this is not the case? For example, in one part of the company, budgets are severely cut and people laid off, while in another part of the company, budgets are increased and additional people are being hired. Sound implausible? It’s not! This is what some companies in our city are currently experiencing – the inequity of an economic crisis.
What does this mean for HR and other leaders in the organization? How can leaders understand, support, explain and manage within this environment?
Join us with Dr. Wilma Slenders as she discusses the turmoil that is created when there is real, or perceived, inequity in companies and how leaders can step up to this challenge.
